Martin Hašek was born in 1969 in Pardubice, where he devoted himself to soccer and hockey from a young age. While his older brother Dominik chose the path of hockey rinks and later became a legendary hockey goalkeeper, Martin in the end chose green soccer fields and a soccer ball.
In the course of time, he played for Sparta Prague, with which he won 5 championship titles and also played for Pardubice, Cheb and Liberec. In the position of a defensive midfielder, he was able to combine great physical preparation with soccer skills. He also played in the Czech national team and also tried international clubs in Austria and Russia.
Martin’s statistics: 6-time winner of the Czech League, 2-time winner of the Czech League Cup, 28 starts in the Champions League, 14 starts for the Czech national team and a gold medal from the Summer World University Games in Buffalo, USA in 1993.
During his career, he managed to graduate from the university in Hradec Králové, where he received his Masters Degree in the field of Physical Education. With the combination of the degree from the school and his own playing experience, Martin became a soccer coach after the end of his playing career.
In 2008, he received a UEFA professional coaching license. After a time in Sparta Prague’s reserve team and in the second league Sokolov, he got to the bench of the first team of AC Sparta Prague. Here, as an assistant coach (under general sports manager Jozef Chovanec), he won the title in the 2009/2010 season.
After three seasons with Sparta Prague, he was transferred to Strahov (Sparta Prague academy facility), where he became the main methodologist of Sparta Prague academy players. Martin helped bring up dozens of soccer players who later played in the highest Czech soccer competition.
In 2014, he became the coach of the second league team FK Pardubice, then worked in the same competition as the coach of Vlašim. From there he moved to the first league club Bohemians Praha 1905 in 2017. In 2022 he coached FK Ústí nad Labem and in 2023 FC Zbrojovka Brno.
Last but not least, Martin is the manager of a private school Svobodná školka Hašánek.
