Jan Chvojan – Soccer Advisor & Mental Coach

I grew up soccer-wise in Viktoria Plzeň, where for a little while I had the opportunity to look into the dressing room of the A team. After graduating from the sports gymnasium, I was motivated by the idea of trying something completely new. That’s how an idea was born that ended up completely changing my life.

In America, I started at a smaller university, Mid-Continent University in Kentucky. Where I captained the local Cougars for three seasons. Before the beginning of my senior year, I had the opportunity to try out the prestigious first division of the NCAA, and so I ended up finishing school at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to university competitions, I had the opportunity to try out USL 2 in the St. Louis Lions.

During my studies in America, I became very interested in sports psychology. That is also why, after completing my bachelor’s studies, I moved to Portsmouth, England, where I obtained an MSc in sports psychology at the local university.

However, I missed the environment of university sports more and more, and when an offer came to coach soccer at Concordia University in Nebraska as a graduate assistant, I returned to America. I ended up spending 3 years at Nebraska, and in addition to coaching at Concordia University, I also helped out as a playing assistant with Omaha’s semi-pro team, the Bugeaters FC.

After returning from the USA, I started working full-time as a sports psychologist, where I work with both individual athletes and teams.
